Do I need a visa to enter Indonesia? Yes. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, entry into the Republic of Indonesia has been restricted in order to better manage and limit the spread of the deadly virus. Immigration policies are constantly being reviewed in conjunction with development of the global pandemic. For tourism-purposes, passport-holders of several countries are eligible for visa-exemption, while others are eligible for visa-on-arrival. For purposes other than tourism and and for passport-holders of remaining countries, an e-Visa must be applied for on their behalf by a host/sponsor. Once approved, the e-Visa will be sent by e-mail to the host/sponsor, thus eliminating the need to process the visa at the Embassy. Who or what is a host/sponsor? They can be individuals (family, acquaintances, etc.) or legal entities (companies, travel agencies, international institutions, etc.) based and registered in the Republic of Indonesia; They must register and will apply for the visa on behalf of the visitor through https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ What if I do not have any acquaintances or a business partner in Indonesia to act as a host/sponsor? In the case where a visitor does not have acquaintances or business partners in Indonesia, various travel/tour agencies in Indonesia offer services to act as sponsor, specifically for the purpose of obtaining a visa. One of many sources of travel agents that provide e-Visa processing services can be found in https://www.welcomebacktobali.com/blog/entry-exit-requirements/visa-entry-requirements (eVisa section at the bottom). Other sources can be searched for through search engines with keywords such as “indonesia evisa sponsor agent." I have been admitted to an Indonesian university, how do I apply for a visa? Those enrolled at an Indonesian University will have their visas applied for by the University. For further questions, email: consular.nairobi@kemlu.go.id
