Entry: eVisa
Most people travelling to New Zealand need to get either a visa, or a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA), except people from visa waiver countries who only need an NZeTA.
People travelling on a passport from some countries must apply for a Visitor Visa to visit New Zealand.
Some people, including citizens of visa waiver countries or territories , can travel to New Zealand with a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) instead of a visa.

How this rule was checked
On 10 Oct 2026 we checked this rule against the official sources that govern entry to New Zealand, chiefly Immigration New Zealand (Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment). Two independent checks reached the same result.
Before the check, public visa data (as of 17 Feb 2026) said: visa required. The official source shows: eVisa, and that is what this page shows.
See this check in the log of checks and changes, and how verification works in the methodology.

Before you travel
This page answers whether you need a visa and how long you can stay on a short tourist visit. It does not cover passport validity, other documents or permission to work. Entry rules change, sometimes without notice, and border officials make the final decision: confirm the requirements for your trip with the official immigration website or embassy of New Zealand.
